Q. Why should I choose EMC for my Urgent Care needs?
A. As is standard practice with ERs, we offer CT Scan, X-ray, UT, and blood work testing capabilities in-house. Moreover, EMC's blood work provides results in 10 minutes. For CT Scans, results are available in 30 minutes. Supporting our unique healthcare promise of prompt urgent care when you need it most...we provide all our Emergency Room services without first having patients wait 280 minutes per visit which is the standard in Manhattan based ER's.
Q. What is the difference between EMC's service and the emergency room?
A. We are a full service urgent care facility, with the same resources as an emergency room. The biggest difference is that we guarantee you will be seen in 15 minutes versus a 5-6 hour wait in a typical New York City ER.
Q. Do you accept my insurance?
A. In-network. We are in-network with a number of insurance companies:
  • Medicare Plan B
  • Workers Comp
  • Axa Assistance
  • Universal Assist
  • Global Excel
  • Workwell Inc.
  • Star Healthcare Network
Note: Insurance plans vary — you may still need to pay co-payments or deductibles. Contact your insurance company to find out what you will be responsible for paying.

Out-of-network. Even if we are not in your insurance company's network, we will submit a bill to your insurance company. Depending on your insurance plan, the insurance company may cover some out-of-network costs. EMC patients are responsible for the remaining balance. Contact your insurance company to find out what you will be responsible for paying.

Q. Will you talk to my doctor and send my visit records?
A. Absolutely! We pride ourselves on the relationships we have with area physicians.
Q. Do you provide pharmacy service?
A. For your convenience and to ensure the highest standards of quality and service, we have partnered with an area pharmacy to have your prescription ready upon departure from our facility OR to deliver your medications right to your home or office.
Q. What do the facility charge and professional service fee mean?
A. We itemize our charges like this to be consistent with most area emergency rooms. There are three customary charges: 1) Facility charge; 2) Professional Services Fee; and 3) Diagnostic studies charge
Q. Do you accept credit cards?
A. We accept all major credit cards.
Q. What if I am sick at 2 AM, are you open?
A. We are open 24 hours a day to meet your emergency medical needs at any hour.
Q. Can I call an ambulance to bring me to your facility?
A. You can and should call an ambulance if your condition warrants it, but they will not bring you to our facility since we are not registered as a hospital. However, if you don't need an ambulance simply call us and we can arrange for a car service to pick you up.
Q. What happens if I need to be admitted?
A. We have partnered with top area hospitals. We will admit you directly to their facility and we will arrange for your care.
Q. What happens if I need a specialist?
A. If you need a specialist immediately, we have a panel of physicians on call that will tend to your urgent medical needs. If your condition does not require immediate attention, we will speak with your personal physician to ensure approval of any specialists. We will then make hassle-free arrangements with one of our associated hospitals to see you the very next day.
Q. Who reads my CAT Scan, X-Ray and Ultrasound?
A. We have partnered with a top-tier Medical Imaging Service group due to their unsurpassed commitment to quality. They read all of our studies on site, 24 hours a day. You will have an official reading before you leave our facility. The findings will also be forwarded to your private physician.
